2010 Sullivan Regatta

NOTICE OF RACE

 

The Richard A. Sullivan Regatta will take place over the weekend of June 19 - 20 at the Cohasset Yacht Club, located at 99 Howard Gleason Road, Cohasset, MA 02025.  The Cohasset 210 Fleet is the organizing authority. 

 

1.             RULES

 

The Regatta will be governed by the: (i) Racing Rules of Sailing 2009 – 20012; (ii) Bylaws and Rules of the International 210 Association (except as may be modified by the Sailing Instructions); and (iii) Sailing Instructions.

 

2.             ADVERTISING

               

Advertising is restricted to Appendix 1, Category A.

 

3.             CLASSES

               

Yachts of the International 210 Class.

 

4.             ELIGIBILITY & ENTRY

 

Competitors must be members of the International 210 Association.  Dues can be paid at the event’s Registration Desk by presenting a check made payable to the International 210 Association.  210 Class dues for 2008 have been set at the following rates: (i) Skipper - $50.00, (ii) Individual Crew - $15.00, and (iii) Full Crew (Skipper + 2 Crew) - $75.00.

 

5.             APPLICATION

               

Application shall be made by completing the entry form and waiver attached to this Notice of Race and presenting it along with a check for the entry fee (made payable to the Cohasset 210 Fleet) at the Registration Desk on June 19, 2010 prior to the Skippers’ meeting.

 

 6.            FEES

 

The entry fee is $65 per yacht.  The entry fee must be paid not later than the time of registration for the event.  The entry fee is non-refundable.

 

7.             SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

 

Friday, June 18, 2010        (High Tide 17:06)

                Yacht Launching 15:00 – 19:00

               

                Saturday, June 19, 2009    (High Tide 05:28)

                                Yacht Launching 03:30 – 07:30

                                09:30       Registration and check in

                                10:00       Skippers meeting

                                10:30       Harbor Start

                                11:30       1st Race

                                Racing will follow as conditions permit.

                                No race will start later than 16:00

                                Three races scheduled

 

                Sunday, June 20, 2009       (High Tide 19:00)

                                09:30       Harbor Start

                                10:30       1st Race.

                                Racing will follow as conditions permit

                                Two races scheduled

                                No race will start after 14:00

                                Yacht Removal 17:00 – 21:00

 

Social Events:  The entry fee includes dinner and drinks on Saturday night and drinks post racing Sunday.

 

8.             RACING AREA & SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

 

The racing area will be north of Chittendon Rock.  Sailing Instructions and a course chart and guide will be included as part of the Registration Package provided at check in.

 

9.             MEASUREMENT

               

All competitors will be responsible for their yachts being in full compliance with all applicable 210 Association rules.

 

10.                 SCORING

 

10.1         The Low-Point scoring system of Appendix A will apply.

10.2.        There will be no maximum number of races.  Only one race is required to be completed to constitute a series.

10.3.        There will be no dropped scores.

10.4.        The scoring system is amended in that the first place yacht in each completed race will be scored 3/4 of a point.

 

11.           RADIO COMMUNICATION           

 

The Race Committee may, in its sole discretion, elect to communicate with yachts via Channel 71.  A yacht shall not make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not broadcast on Channel 71 or other channel designated by the Race Committee.  Neither outgoing nor incoming telephone communications may be made or received while racing.

 

12.           PRIZES

 

                The Richard A Sullivan Trophy (perpetual) will be awarded to the first place yacht.

                There will be awards presented to the skippers and crew of the first, second and third place yachts.

Sullivan Regatta, do hereby acknowledges that the sport of yacht racing is inherently dangerous and assume all risk of accident, loss of property or loss of life.  The undersigned acknowledge that the decision to start and/or continue racing is the sole and exclusive responsibility of the skipper of the yacht and her crew.  In consideration of the acceptance of this entry, we the undersigned hereby for ourselves and our heirs release and forever discharge the International 210 Association, the Cohasset 210 Fleet, the Cohasset Yacht Club, and all of their respective members, employees and volunteers, from liability for any and all loss, damage, or injury to person or property suffered by us during the 2010 Richard A Sullivan Regatta

Jim: Thank you for your efforts in creating this new website. Too bad about the viruses, there was a lot of good 210 info and pics on the old site, and I thought the forums were a great resource for sharing 210 info. Hopefully we will all get used to this blog feature and the news will keep on coming. Thanks again!
